Controls/Field Service Engineer

The duties include the development and debugging of PLC code as well as field service work. This Engineer will be responsible for performing installations and field service engineering support for machinery systems at various client sites. The Service representative performs machine start-up, operator/maintenance training in the customer's plant and any follow-up service. The highly specialized position requires extensive electrical background and strong mechanical experience for equipment repair and customer training. Engineers must provide accurate detailed written reporting. Field Engineers must develop and modify PLC programs. They must complete wire terminations during installation, set-up, and/or repair of equipment. They must make accurate mechanical adjustments to machinery. Service is performed on all past and current models of our client's machines. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, hydraulic and electrical controls. This position requires three years of practical experience in machine tool equipment or a similar field. BSEE degree is preferred but not required. PLC experience a must. Experience with motion control is a plus. Experience with Indramat, Giddings & Lewis or Beckhoff is a plus. servo and hydraulic experience is a plus. Must read blue prints, schematics, and be proficient with Ladder Logic software. Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy objects and travel extensively via land and air. a vaild passport and driver's license required. Extensive national as well as some international travel required. Travel requirements estimated to be 10%-35%. Must learn our client's complete product line and demonstrate ability to install and service equipment as well as train field service and customer personnel. Competitive salary and benefits package.
