SHOALS CHAMBER TO HOST BACK-TO-SCHOOL
SALES TAX HOLIDAY SEMINAR
Florence, Ala. – July 6, 2006
Business owners confused over Alabama’s new Back-to-School Tax Holiday will soon receive much needed guidance. The Shoals Chamber of Commerce will serve as local host for a tax holiday seminar to explain to local businesses and individuals how the back-to-school sales tax holiday scheduled for Aug. 4-6 will work.
The seminar, co-sponsored by the Alabama Retail Association, the Chamber of Commerce of Alabama and the Alabama Department of Revenue, begins at 10AM on Monday, July 17, at SunTrust Bank, 7th Floor, 201 South Court Street, Florence. John Paradise, Alabama Department of Revenue Local Government Liaison, will conduct the seminar.
Businesses that sell school supplies, books, clothing or computers and computer equipment are specifically urged to attend the one-hour seminar. The event is open to the general public.
The Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday – the first of its kind in the state - begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, August 4, and ends at midnight Sunday, August 6. The Alabama Retail Association forecasts retailers could even see double-digit increases from previous year sales as has been seen in other states with similar holidays.
The Shoals Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit agency dedicated to promoting economic growth and enhance the quality of life for all Shoals citizens.
