CHAMBER OF COMMERCE LOOKS TO GIVE NEW MEMBERS
"LICENSE TO SELL" IN ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

Florence, Ala. – April 27, 2006
The Shoals Chamber of Commerce will officially launch its 2006 Membership Drive, "License To Sell," today at 5:30 p.m. at the McFarland Park Light Beacon in Florence. The James Bond-inspired drive will run through June 1, and will involve the entire Shoals business community.

"As a member-based organization, the work of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce greatly depends on the constant flow of new members," said Steve Holt, president of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. "Our membership is better connected to the Shoals area because they are better connected to each other."

The Chamber is seeking to add 50 new members to its current roster of almost 1,000 businesses and individuals. Today's kickoff event for recruiters will be followed by five reporting sessions for its Bond-inspired teams, dubbed Teams 007, Goldeneye, Goldfinger, Moneypenny, Moonraker, Oddjob, and Thunderball.

"It’s ‘open season’ on all prospects and no prospects are protected," said Membership Coordinator Beth Haddock. "This drive isn’t simply about numbers. ‘License To Sell’ is about local businesses and individuals getting involved in the work of the Chamber, and aiding in the integral part of economic growth in the Shoals area."

Members receive a number of benefits and privileges as a Chamber member, including business referrals, advertising and networking opportunities, ribbon cutting and groundbreakings, and educational seminars. In addition, members’ voices are heard on legislative issues, and on Chamber committees and projects.
