CHAMBER LOOKS TO EDUCATE AREA YOUTH WITH NEW CLASS OF
YOUTH LEADERSHIP SHOALS

Florence, Ala. – April 3, 2006
The Shoals Chamber of Commerce is currently taking applicants for the Youth Leadership Shoals Class of 2006-2007. The program, sponsored in part by Buffalo Rock-Pepsi Cola, is a nine-month community awareness and leadership training program for rising high school juniors. Throughout the program, students are immersed in a wealth of localized curriculum, including sessions on the history of the Shoals Area, economic development and local business, in an effort to develop their potential as future leaders in our community.

"Youth Leadership Shoals is an important program for the Chamber, as it seeks to cultivate the area’s leaders of tomorrow. Through the program, we try to give these students a chance to spread their wings and develop strong leadership skills," said Steve Holt, president of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce.

"It allows them to meet other students from across the Shoals Area and most develop life-long friendships. It is truly a rewarding experience for all those involved from the students to the volunteers," Holt said.

Applications for the Youth Leadership Shoals program are available at the Chamber, or through high school guidance counselors. Enrollment is limited, and applications are due to the Shoals Chamber of Commerce by Friday, April 14, 2006 at 5:00 p.m.
